This is the meanest looking GTI since, well ever.
I don't think we're getting the 3-door though, which is a shame.
I wonder about the wheels though, I guess they have to stay on their respective side to keep the pointy part facing forward.
Still, me likes.

I have to slightly disagree. But still, both of them are awesome:

Love it. I have a 2010 2-door, and love coming out to it every day after work, but I'm not ashamed to say I'd upgrade to that in a heartbeat. I much prefer the 2-door bodystyle myself as well.
With the directional tread nowadays (or at least that's part of it), it seems like you pretty much always have to swap front to back on the same side of the car anyway ... that's the way it is with my GTI, so your pointy part will always be facing forward no matter what, unless you have the tire shop mount the rubber the other way.

I'm not upset we aren't getting the 3 door.
3 door hatches look good, but that's it. They aren't as practical and that sort of defeats the point. I just wish carmakers would do a better job of styling the second door.
Chevy got it right

I saw those wheels and instantly though of the 90s Tahoes and Suburbans with their rims point forward on one side, and backwards on the other. I didn't even take directional tread into account.

I forgot about those! Ugh, yeah, those always bothered my slightly-OCD preference for symmetry.
